It is with the deepest sadness that The Buddhist Society is announcing that Ron Maddox died on the 5th September after a short illness.
Ron was for many years the General Secretary of The Buddhist Society during a critical period in its development after the death of its founder Christmas Humphreys.
Ron continued to contribute greatly to the life of the Society in retirement by not only leading a much cherished meditation class for many decades, but also by representing The Buddhist Society at many institutional celebrations and events.
He continued to contribute to the work of Buddhist Chaplaincy not only at the Maudsley Hospital but also for the Armed Services where he led the Endorsing Authority.
Ron’s gentle and caring presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Buddhist Society will be hosting a memorial in 2026.
